UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon discusses the crisis in South Sudan

On the margins of the 27th African Union Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon attended the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) Summit on the crisis in South Sudan, July 15-17 2016. The Secretary-General was accompanied by Special Representative Haile Menkerios of the UN Office to the African Union; Assistant Secretary General for the Department of Peacekeeping Operations El–Ghassim Wane; and Abdel-Fatau Musah, Director, Africa II in the Department of Political Affairs. The Secretary-General engaged with the government of South Sudan, IGAD Member States and Partners on peace in that country. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also met with several African Heads of State and Government.
