Third African Women Leaders Forum for Africa’s Transformation

From 9 to 10 November, the Third Women Leaders Forum for Africa’s transformation was convened by the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) in a virtual format. The Forum built on the previous two Forums and the Network's experience from its National Chapters in the last four years. It presented an opportunity for the Network members and the National Chapters to exchange lessons learned and good practices, including on funding and a strategy to grow the work of the Network and the National Chapters.

The Forum was attended by many high-level women representatives including UNOAU’s Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) Hanna Tetteh, the President of Ethiopia, H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, the AU Special Envoy on Women Peace and Security, Bineta Diop, the UN Under-Secretary-General of ECA, Vera Songwe and, AU Commission’s Deputy Chairperson, Dr. Monique Nsanzabaganwa. SRSG Tetteh made introductory remarks on the newly created AWLN digital platforms and introduced the AWLN website, intergenerational and mentoring platforms which were developed and supported by UNOAU working closely with the AU.
