Third annual UN - AU Conference held in New York
The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat held the Third African Union-United Nations Annual Conference at the UN Headquarters in New York on 6 May 2019. The two Principals, who were joined by senior officials from both organizations, welcomed the strong collaboration between the United Nations and the African Union and the progress made on the implementation of the two joint framework agreements and expressed their commitment to continue to deepen the strategic partnership.
This follows the second annual conference that was held at African Union Headquarters on June 2018.
After the signing of the UN - AU Joint Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security in April 2017, the two Organizations' leaders signed a second framework on development during the 30th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa in January 2018.
