UNOAU launches the ‘She Stands for Peace’ website on International Women’s Day

The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) launched the ‘She Stands for Peace’ website on 8 March 2022, International Women’s Day, with the support of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Government of Sweden. The website can be accessed at: https://www.un.org/shestandsforpeace/.

The website is aimed at providing information on Women, Peace and Security to individuals, governments, non-governmental and civil society organizations that are working at regional, national and local levels in Africa to advance the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.

The website provides information on the UNSCR 1325 Women, Peace and Security agenda in Africa, including key information such as national and regional action plans, UN and AU policy documents and reports, training materials and opportunities, news, press releases and fact sheets as well as sharing the experience of outstanding women peacebuilders from past publications and links to podcasts produced by UNOAU.

The website will soon have a dedicated platform for “She Stands for Peace” Community of Practice. The creation of the Community of Practice is aimed at enabling women and the youth to come together and interact, share their common concerns, their personal experiences and good practices.

UNOAU believes that the website will provide users with necessary information on women, peace and security agenda and the status of its implementation in Africa.
