UNOAU participates in the 54th UNSAC meeting in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo

From 13 to 16 January 2023, the UNOAU participated in the 54th Session of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa (UNSAC) in Kintele, Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) to the African Union and Head of UNOAU, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, attended the Ministerial session held on 16 January, which was opened by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso, and chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of the Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso.

Among others, the 54th UNSAC meeting considered reports by UNSAC member countries and thematic files covering the geopolitical and security situations, political and institutional developments, humanitarian and human rights situations, as well as the impact of COVID-19, of the situation in Ukraine, and on the impact of climate change on the region.
