UNOAU provides technical support to the AU in the delivery of a Course on ‘Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning’

From 15 to 19 May, UNOAU in collaboration with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) designed and delivered a course on ‘Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning’ in Accra, Ghana. The aim of the course was to expose participants to various monitoring and evaluation tools to make them more accountable in the implementation of AU peace support operations’ (PSO) mandates. The training targeted senior military, police and civilian personnel currently deployed or preparing to deploy into AU mandated or authorized PSOs.  Facilitators were subject matter experts from UNOAU, the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and from the AU Peace Support Operations Division. It is expected that participants will be able to mainstream monitoring and evaluation in the performance of their respective logistics, administrative and substantive functions. It was recommended after the course that AUC should appoint Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning focal persons in all its authorized and mandated PSOs.
