UNOAU supports the AUC by facilitating Training in Compliance and Accountability for the Multinational Joint Task Force fighting Boko Haram

From 24 to 28 April, UNOAU, in collaboration with OHCHR supported the AU in the design and delivery of Training in Compliance and Accountability for the Multinational Joint Task Force fighting Boko Haram (MNJTF). The programme took place in Ndjamena, Chad. The training was based on the development of an AU Strategic Framework for Compliance and Accountability in which all personnel preparing to deploy, or deployed in AU-mandated and authorized PSOs, are expected to ensure respect for International Human Rights Law (IHRL), International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and obligations on standards of conduct and discipline. The course provided the participants with the requisite knowledge and skills to fully comply with IHL and IHRL standards in the conduct of their operations. There was a total of 27 participants, mainly senior military officers, drawn from the four sectors of the MNJTF.
