UNOAU participates in the Advisory Assessment Inspection of Pledged Ugandan Air Assets in Entebbe, Uganda

From 18–26 May, the United Nations Office to the African Union participated in an Advisory Assessment Inspection of air assets pledged by the Ugandan Air Force for deployment under the African Union Support Mission in Somalia. The inspection took place in Entebbe, Uganda, and was carried out by a joint team comprising representatives from the African Union, the United Nations Support Office in Somalia, AUSSOM, and UNOAU, who jointly provided technical expertise and operational guidance.

The assessment focused on three pledged air assets: one Attack Helicopter (MI-17-2E) and two Utility Helicopters (MI-17-2V). The objective was to assess the technical condition and operational readiness of the aircrafts and provide informed recommendations on their suitability for deployment in line with the AUSSOM Concept of Operations and the Statement of Unit Requirements. The Joint Team assessed the helicopters to be airworthy, and concluded that the Ugandan offer aligns with AUSSOM’s force requirements and supports the intended deployment.
