Renewal of UNOAU-ISS MoU

On 16 November, SRSG to the AU and Head of UNOAU met with Dr. Paul-Simon Handy, the Regional Director for East Africa and Representative to the AU of the Institute of Security Studies (ISS). During the meeting, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) renewing the commitment between UNOAU and ISS to enhance collaboration in support of the implementation of the Joint UN-AU Framework for an enhanced partnership in peace and security. In his remarks, SRSG to the AU and Head of UNOAU acknowledged the important work of the ISS, welcomed the renewal of the MoU, and expressed UNOAU’s commitment to continue its collaboration with the ISS to support the AU’s priorities such as addressing the challenges related to climate change, the energy and food crisis. The ISS Regional Director reiterated his organization’s commitment to intensify its cooperation with the UNOAU in advancing the implementation of the UN-AU partnership framework, through its research and analytical resources.
