On 17 July, SRSG Parfait Onanga-Anyanga met with H.E. Stephan Auer, the outgoing Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, following his four-year tenure in Addis Ababa.

During their meeting, the SRSG and the Ambassador reviewed key issues of mutual interest, including ongoing peace initiatives in Sudan and the pivotal role of the African Union in these efforts, especially through the High-Level Panel on Sudan and Ad Hoc High-Level Committee for South Sudan. They also discussed the reform of the United Nations Security Council, agreeing on the urgent need to reach a consensus that would facilitate Africa’s integration into the Council. Finally, the SRSG and the Ambassador commended the excellent collaboration they have enjoyed over the past four years.
