UNOAU attends policy dialogue on ‘Advancing Youth Peacebuilding Agenda through knowledge’ organized by the AU and partners
From 3 to 5 May, UNOAU participated in a policy dialogue on ‘Advancing Youth Peacebuilding Agenda Through Knowledge’ organized by the AUC’s Youth for Peace (Y4P) Africa Program together with the African Peacebuilding Network (APN), the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), the African Leadership Centre (ALC) and the Open Society. The event was hosted by the ALC in Nairobi, Kenya, with the participation of young peacebuilders, representatives of the research community, the AUC, regional economic communities/mechanisms (RECs/RMs) and policy makers. The objective of the meeting was to review the existing state of knowledge of African youth peacebuilders; create a platform for exchange of knowledge between youth peacebuilders and the research community on the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda; and to promote the production and dissemination of scholarly knowledge. The dialogue also allowed participants to explore opportunities and strategies for building synergies for exchange of ideas on capacity building and make recommendations for effective implementation of the YPS agenda.
