Joint Inter-Generational Dialogue: “Africa Young Women Fellowship on Silencing the Guns”

UNOAU in collaboration with the AU Office of the Youth Envoy, organized a two-day joint virtual inter-generational dialogue under the theme, “Africa Young Women Fellowship on Silencing the Guns”. Held from 3-4 December as part of the Youth Silencing the Guns campaign, the virtual dialogue and training sessions were organized to build young women’s capacities based on parameters enshrined in the African Youth Charter.

The virtual dialogue/training included inter-generational dialogues with mentors and seasoned African women leaders and experts who have played a pioneering and leadership role in advocating for women’s rights and the implementation of the WPS agenda in Africa. The Head of Institutional and Operational Partnership Service (IOPS) at UNOAU, Hester Paneras, shared her experiences as a woman who has served extensively on the continent in building peace and security. The virtual dialogue/training aimed at supporting young women in positioning themselves to take leadership in the field of peace and security, while also creating a network of young women in peace and security that allows members to support one other.

The virtual training/dialogue centered around storytelling as a methodology for imparting skills and knowledge.

UNOAU also organized similar activities with ECOWAS and the AU Youth Envoy's Office
