Police Strategic Support Group holds Virtual Planning Workshop

Aiming to discuss roster processes, annexes of the draft Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) on AU Police Roster System for Professional Police Staff (PPS), Individual Police Officers (IPOs) and Formed Police Units (FPUs), the Police Strategic Support Group (PSSG) Virtual Planning Workshop Number 1/2021 was held on 11 February.

UNOAU joined participants who were drawn from the African Union Member States, Standing Police Capacity in UN Field Missions, the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and British Peace Support Team Africa (BPST-A) as members of the PSSG. The workshop discussed part of the PPS Roster Process, and further deliberations will continue at the next workshop.

It is envisaged that the draft SOP on the Police Roster System will be updated, and a small team will meet physically with an Information Technology (IT) technical expert from the GIZ Office to the AU to map out how the process would be installed in the IT system.
