On 23 August, the SRSG to the African Union and Head of UNOAU, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, met with the Ambassador of Cameroon to the AU, Churchill Ewumbue-Monono. They discussed the upcoming programme of work of the AU Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) for September and recent developments concerning the situation in Niger.

SRSG congratulated the Ambassador on the very candid debate in the AUPSC on Niger and on the AUPSC communiqué recently issued by the Council. With regards to the AUPSC Programme of Work, the Ambassador informed that the AUPSC would hold a ministerial meeting on the Financing of AU-led Peace Support Operations on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and noted that the issue of civil-military partnership would be a flagship initiative under the Cameroonian presidency in the month of September.
