UNOAU participates in launch of policy note on displacement in times of poly crisis

On 15 April, the United Nations Office to the African Union participated in the launch of the policy note Expert Insights on Displacement in Times of Poly crisis in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event was hosted by the Embassy of Sweden in collaboration with the Nordic Africa Institute and UNDP.

The policy note examines displacement in contexts affected by overlapping climate, conflict and mobility challenges. It draws on expert dialogues involving researchers and practitioners and highlights the need for stronger climate resilience, integrated responses and improved support to communities affected by instability.

The UNOAU Climate, Peace and Security Advisor moderated a panel featuring representatives from the Nordic Africa Institute and UNDP. Discussions focused on the humanitarian development peace nexus, access to climate finance in fragile and conflict affected contexts, locally led adaptation and the role of subnational actors.

UNOAU emphasized the importance of cross sectoral and cross institutional collaboration to support joint analysis and action on climate related displacement and instability.
