The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) advances the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda as a core pillar of the UN–AU partnership on peace and security. The Office promotes the full, equal, and meaningful participation and leadership of women across the conflict continuum, including conflict prevention, mediation, peace operations, and sustaining peace.
Working in partnership with the African Union Commission and regional partners, UNOAU provides coordinated political and technical support to strengthen gender-responsive conflict analysis, policy development, and operational practice. The Office also supports advocacy, dialogue platforms, and capacity-building initiatives that advance women’s participation in peace and political processes, while documenting and amplifying women’s leadership and contributions to peace and security across Africa.
