Mr Philipp Geyer (2026 Cohort)
What does it mean to work at the center of the United Nations–African Union partnership in peace and security?
In this video, Philipp Geyer shares his experience as a Digital Communications Intern within the Public Information Unit at the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU), based in Addis Ababa. The internship at UNOAU is not observational. Interns contribute directly to core functions supporting the UN–AU partnership, from strategic communications and content development to supporting coordination around high level engagements and peace and security priorities. Working in a complex multilateral environment, interns engage with real tasks that demand accuracy, discipline, and initiative. They are expected to deliver to professional standards while navigating fast moving institutional processes. This experience offers more than exposure. It builds the practical skills required to operate in international organizations, including analytical thinking, communication under pressure, and coordination across institutions.
