Remarks by SRSG Parfait Onanga-Anyanga | The Down Syndrome and Other Intellectual Disabilities Awareness Event 7th Nov 2024 African Hall | UNECA, Addis Ababa Ethiopia

On 7 November 2024, the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) joined partners and stakeholders at the Down Syndrome and Other Intellectual Disabilities Awareness Initiative held at Africa Hall, UNECA. The event, organized by the Deborah Foundation with the support of the UNECA and partners, aimed to promote understanding, inclusion, and the rights of persons living with intellectual disabilities across the continent.

In his heartfelt remarks, SRSG Parfait Onanga-Anyanga emphasized the shared humanity and dignity of persons with Down syndrome, calling for collective action to dismantle stigma, promote inclusive education, and ensure access to quality healthcare and lifelong learning.
