SRSG Tetteh meets AU Chairperson at AU Headquarters

In her second week in Office, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of UNOAU, Ms. Hanna Tetteh met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa. 

The two leaders held discussions on African Union - United Nations partnerships in the areas of peace and security as well as development. The African Union and the United Nations entered into two partnerships namely the Joint UN-AU Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security (April 2017) and the AU – UN Framework on Implementation of Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030 (January 2018), both of which continue to strengthen collaboration on the African continent.

SRSG Tetteh also presented her credentials to the Chairperson.

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed SRSG Tetteh as Special Representative to the African Union and Head of UNOAU in December 2018. Formerly, the position was held by Ms. Sahle-Work Zewde who was officiated as President of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in October 2018 after joining UNOAU in July 2018.
