The African Union Peace and Security Council held an open session on the impact of climate change on island states in Africa on September 10, 2019 at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa. 

Mr. Gerald Mitchell, Deputy Head of Office and Head of Political Affairs at UNOAU, delivered a UN statement on the topic on behalf of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union (SRSG), Ms. Hanna Tetteh.
