UNOAU and Amani Africa hold Policy Dialogue ‘Towards a Renewed AU-UN Partnership: Financing of African Union-led Peace Support Operations’

On 10 May, UNOAU and Amani Africa convened a Policy Dialogue 'Towards a Renewed AU-UN Partnership: Financing of African Union-led Peace Support Operations’. Opening remarks were delivered by the Program Director of Amani Africa, Bitania Tadesse, followed by a briefing on the UN Secretary-General’s report on financing of PSOs by the SRSG to the African Union and Head of UNOAU.

Remarks were also delivered by: the Permanent Representative of Ghana to the UN, Harold Adlai Agyeman; the AUC PAPS Advisor for International Partnerships, Ambassador Frederic Gateretse-Ngoga; the Founder and Managing Director of Amani Africa, Dr. Solomon Dersso; the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ethiopia, Oliver Hoehne; and the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) Head of Programmes, Professor Tim Murithi. Remarks were followed by a question-and-answer session which focused on the options of financing AU-led PSOs laid out in the SG’s report as well as the next steps with regards to the use of UN-assessed contributions.
