The UNOAU serves as a key instrument for the UN–AU strategic partnership, representing a robust pillar of multilateralism, for achieving the AU’s objective of a peaceful, safe, united, and more prosperous Africa.
The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) is a representative office established in 2010 to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United Nations and the African Union in the maintenance of international peace and security. It supports coordination and cooperation on conflict prevention, mediation, peace operations and post-conflict peacebuilding, and serves as the principal UN interface with the African Union on peace and security matters.
