SRSG and Head of UNOAU undertakes joint AU–UN mission to Madagascar in support of inclusive political dialogue

From 13 to 18 July, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union and Head of UNOAU, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, undertook a joint mission to Madagascar with the African Union Special Envoy for Madagascar, Ambassador Mohamed Idriss Farah, in support of national efforts to advance an inclusive and credible political process conducive to a sustainable return to constitutional order.

During the mission, the AU and UN representatives met with President Michael Randrianirina and a broad range of stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, women and youth representatives, and private sector actors.

The joint mission reflects continued AU–UN cooperation in support of conflict prevention, peacebuilding, democratic governance and inclusive political transitions.
