SRSG meets AU Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security

On 30 June, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, met with the African Union Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, H.E. Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, to review the UN-AU cooperation and identify priorities for advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

The Special Envoy welcomed UNOAU's longstanding technical and financial support and outlined priorities for implementing her Office's newly finalized Strategic Plan. The SRSG reaffirmed UNOAU's commitment to supporting these priorities and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration through initiatives such as the She Stands for Peace publication series, the Swakopmund Process and efforts to strengthen women's participation in AU-led peace processes.

Both sides agreed to establish an annual strategic retreat to enhance coordination, joint planning and cooperation on Women, Peace and Security.
