UNOAU participates in AU–UN–NARC Technical Assessment Mission to Algeria

From 21 to 25 June, the United Nations Office to the African Union participated in the African Union–United Nations–North African Regional Capability (AU–UN–NARC) Technical Assessment Mission to Algiers and Jijel, Algeria. Led by the African Union Peace Support Operations Division, the mission assessed regional logistics capabilities in support of the African Standby Force.

Technical discussions focused on supply chain management, strategic deployment stocks, strategic movement, regional logistics interoperability and the implications of United Nations Security Council resolution 2719 (2023) for AU-led peace support operations. The mission also visited the North African Regional Capability Regional Logistics Depot in Jijel to assess its readiness to support future deployments.

The assessment identified opportunities to strengthen AU–UN–NARC cooperation on logistics planning, mission support and regional logistics capabilities, contributing to more effective and responsive African peace support operations.
