UNOAU provides technical support in delivering of training for the East African Standby Force’s Regional Senior Mission Leaders Course

From 18 to 22 November, UNOAU provided technical support to the East African Standby Force in the delivery of the 29th session of the Regional Senior Mission Leaders Course in Nairobi, Kenya. The course was designed to strengthen leadership in AU peace support operations (PSOs) within the framework of the East African Standby Force and the African Peace and Security Architecture. The course brought together participants from military, police and civilian components and aimed to deepen their leadership and management abilities in the planning and conduct of PSOs in contemporary conflict environments. A total of 27 participants attended the course, primarily from the East African region, with some representation from other continents. It is anticipated that participants will shortly be deployed to AU-mandated and authorized PSOs, as well as UN peace operations, to assume senior leadership roles.
