From 6 to 10 February, UNOAU in collaboration with UNSOS and ATMIS provided technical support to the African Union (AU) in the design and delivery of a Training of Trainers Programme for the Burundi Armed Forces. The aim of the mandatory pre-deployment training was to provide selected trainers from the Burundian military with the necessary knowledge and skills to train and prepare the Burundian Contingent for deployment to ATMIS. Prior to the training, UNOAU supported the AU with the design of a pre-deployment training manual and a facilitators guide for the delivery of the programme. The training focused on the AU Compliance and Accountability Framework and other key topics intended to guide the behavior of Commanders and their troops as they deploy to Somalia. A total of 30 trainers participated in the training of trainers programme.
