From 20 to 22 March, UNOAU participated in a workshop to validate the draft AU Strategic Framework for Compliance and Accountability in Peace Support Operations (PSOs), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Participants included representatives from UNOAU, AU PSOs, AU Commission (AUC), AU Office of the Legal Counsel (OLC), Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs), African Standby Force (ASF), Troop and Police Contributing Countries (T/PCCs), and relevant partners including Amani Africa. The objective of the workshop was to review the draft AU Strategic Framework, finalize its validation and agree on the next steps and timeline for the implementation of the Framework. The Framework will be transmitted for review and adoption by the AUPSC Committee of Experts and the AUPSC members respectively prior to its publication and dissemination. UNOAU will keep abreast of the progress of the adoption of the draft Framework, and thereafter support the AU in disseminating the Strategy to RECs/RMs and T/PCCs.
