On 4 April, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to the AU and Head of UNOAU, Parfait Onanga-Ayanga met the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat. They discussed the upcoming report of the Secretary-General on the African Union Peace Support Operations (AU PSOs) and acknowledged the AU’s input to the report. They both shared optimism that the report and its recommendations will receive positive support of the United Nations Security Council members and culminate in predictable funding for AU PSOs through the UN-assessed contribution. The AU Chairperson Faki emphasised that such support was imperative to enhancing the AU's capability in addressing ongoing conflicts and restoring peace, stability and development in Africa The AU Chairperson commended the Secretary-General’s continued commitment in this regard.
