On 26 April, the SRSG to the AU and Head of UNOAU paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the Union of Comoros to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU, Youssouf Mandoha Assoumani, who is also the Chair of the AU Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC) for 2023. The meeting discussed ongoing AU initiatives under the Chairpersonship of the Union of Comoros, and in particular the continent’s flagship projects aimed at addressing Africa’s challenges associated with transport and inter-connectivity and harnessing the blue economy. They also shared information on the security situations on the continent and particularly on the developments in the Sudan, stressing that instability in Sudan impacts the entire region including the transitions in the countries neighboring Sudan, and the efforts the AU is undertaking for de-escalation.
