Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed visited Addis Ababa from 20 to 23 July 2024. During the visit, SRSG Parfait Onanga-Anyanga warmly welcomed her and joined her at the opening of the Preparatory Committee for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development. The Deputy Secretary-General also met with Spain’s Secretary of State Diego Martinez Belio on SDG preparations and led side events with African Finance Ministers. She held bilateral talks with Ethiopian leaders, including President Sahle-Work Zewde and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, focusing on UN-Ethiopia cooperation and SDG acceleration. Additionally, she addressed a High-Level Women Leadership Dialogue organized by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Women and Social Affairs.
