From 5 to 9 May 2025, UNOAU in collaboration with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre provided technical support to the AU in the delivery of the AU Peace Support Operations Staff Officers Course, which took place in Accra, Ghana. The course was designed in response to a Training Needs Assessment by the AU which identified capacity gaps in the performance of Staff Officers deployed into AU PSOs. The course aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants to effectively perform their administrative, operational and logistical functions in AU mandated and authorized PSOs. The course targeted 26 Civilian, Military and Police Officers involved in the planning, deployment, management, sustainability and liquidation of AU PSOs. It is expected that the current Staff Officers training curriculum will be reviewed after the programme to reflect the current realities of AU PSOs.
