UNOAU provides technical support for the 12th Annual Coordination Conference on African Standby Capacity
From 11-13 June, UNOAU participated in and supported the 12th African Standby Capacity (ASC) Annual Coordination Meeting hosted by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa. The annual meeting serves as a crucial platform that brings together the Civilian Component from the AU Commission, Regional Economic Communities /Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs), Planning Elements, along with other stakeholders to discuss the operationalization of the ASC roster, address challenges in implementing operational plans, and harmonize rostering activities. This year, the meeting focused on efforts to integrate the ASC rostering processes into AU human resources policies with a view to increasing its utilization as a recruitment tool as directed by the Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety and Security. The meeting convened representatives from the AU Commission, UNOAU, African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes and Rostering Officers from the RECs/RMs.
