The horror of these heinous crimes echoes long after the guns fall silent. Too often, perpetrators walk free, cloaked in impunity, while survivors often bear the impossible burden of stigma and trauma. The pain does not end with them. UNOAU provides technical support for the 12th Annual Coordination Conference on African Standby Capacity

From 11-13 June, UNOAU participated in and supported the 12th African Standby Capacity (ASC) Annual Coordination Meeting hosted by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa. The annual meeting serves as a crucial platform that brings together the Civilian Component from the AU Commission, Regional Economic Communities /Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs), Planning Elements, along with other stakeholders to discuss the operationalization of the ASC roster, address challenges in implementing operational plans, and harmonize rostering activities. UNOAU supports AU in the development of a Training Curriculum in Applied International Humanitarian Law

From 16-18 June, UNOAU in collaboration with the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) and the Government of Switzerland supported the development of a Training Curriculum in the application of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in AU peace support operations. The curriculum development workshop took please in Nairobi, Kenya. The rationale for the development of the curriculum was based on the need to strengthen the application of IHL in the implementation of AU peace support operations. Read more.
