Secretary General’s Message for The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The epidemic of violence against women and girls shames humanity. Every day, on average, 140 women and girls are killed by someone in their own family. Around one in three women still experience physical or sexual violence. No country or community is unaffected. Read more.
UNOAU supports consultative workshop to validate revised SSR Action Plan and M&E Framework

From 11 to 14 November, UNOAU supported and participated in a consultative workshop, held in Banjul, The Gambia, to validate a revised Security Sector Reform (SSR) action plan and its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework. UNOAU supports AU assessment of operational capability of Sierra Leone FPU

From 12 to 18 November, UNOAU supported the assessment of the Sierra Leone Formed Police Unit (FPU-6), expected to deploy to the AU Transition Mission (ATMIS) on rotation. UNOAU joined the Formed Police Assessment Team (FPAT) constituted by the AU to assess the operational capability of FPU-6. Read more.

On 28 November, UNOAU attended the second high-level meeting of UN Special Representatives of the Secretary-General (SRSGs) and Special Envoys (SESGs) serving in the Central African region. The meeting, which convened in Bangui, CAR, took place on the margins of the 58th UNSAC session. Read more.
